Oral hygiene – dental prophylaxis
Many of the health problems of the teeth occur precisely due to poor dental hygiene. Here are some basic tips to avoid this and keep your teeth as healthy as possible.
Turns dental hygiene into a habit
Although the importance of oral hygiene is well known, for many it has not become completely part of the daily routine, or procedures are often done incorrectly or in a hurry. For your health, this must be changed by adopting essential daily habits. And if Chisinau in particular and Moldova in general are doing somewhat well in terms of dentistry, adequate oral hygiene is still not popular enough. Probably for this reason 8 out of 10 Moldovans suffer from tooth decay and 50% end up losing at least one tooth by the age of 50.
In Chișinău dentists, at least those who work at Imperial Dent, have among the basic principles the education of patients, so that the emphasis is placed on maximum prophylaxis and dental treatments performed on time. First of all, we recommend brushing your teeth twice a day (minimum 3 minutes), in circular and vertical movements, at an angle of 45 degrees, with a suitable toothpaste. In addition, it uses dental floss, but also mouthwash, to effectively remove all debris and bacteria, thus limiting the appearance of cavities. Sometimes, the doctor may also recommend the mouth shower irrigator for more special cases. In total, you need a maximum of 10 minutes to perform all these procedures, so you can certainly make time for it, no matter how busy your day is. If you want to establish a dental prophylaxis routine, try setting alarms to remind you when it’s time for oral hygiene, or installing apps for that purpose. Over time, this will become natural, and you will feel healthier and more confident. Someone once said that in the morning you brush your teeth so as not to lose your friends, but in the evening – so as not to lose your teeth. Don’t forget this!
Respect a healthy diet
The health of your teeth depends directly on the foods you eat, so you must carefully choose the ones that are useful to you and limit as much as you can those that are most harmful to you. As difficult as it may seem at first, try to maintain a balanced diet, which does not lack fresh fruits and vegetables, as well as foods rich in calcium, protein and various vitamins. Avoid processed foods, carbonated and energy drinks, smoking and alcohol as much as possible, and consume sweets to a limited extent, as they increase the level of acidity and lead to cavities. From liquids, tea and coffee should also be consumed in moderation. It is very important to drink plenty of water, especially after a meal, because it reduces the negative effects of high acidity drinks and food.
Go to a dental clinic
We are used to going to the doctor only when we have an emergency and we need high dental services immediately, but it is good to make regular visits to the dental clinic, at least once in half a year. There you will have quality dental procedures and services, such as scaling, which removes bacterial plaque and tartar accumulated over time, even when you follow proper hygiene. Although sometimes financial reasons or even fear can keep you away from dental clinics, you must always pay attention to your health and make room for better habits in your daily life. In particular, we need to understand that the dentist wants only the best for us, and that we can trust his professionalism. So whenever you have the opportunity, consult your dentist and ask for advice on maintaining dental health, or to create a treatment plan when necessary, and your life will be easier.
