The dental implant is a titanium component, usually in the form of a screw, that serves as a replacement for the missing root of a natural tooth.
When is a dental implant required?
Generally, any person that has one missing tooth or more can have a dental implant.
The main limitations are:
- the quality and quantity of the surrounding bone
- the position of the maxillary sinus and of the inferior alveolar nerve
- causes that have to do with the general health of the body
- Alcohol addiction
- Drug addiction
- Patients with cardiac decompensation
- Acute articular rheumatism
- Patients with blood diseases
- Major arterial hypertension
- Severe endocrine disorders
- Immune deficiency
- Patients who were irradiated
- Patients with neoplasms
- Psychotic disorders
- Bad hygiene
