“Medicine is constantly evolving and a proficient doctor has to keep up with it,” says the dentist Valeriu Balta. In this interview, we have gathered some thoughts from the chief physician of the Imperial Dent dentistry clinic. He believes that the dental health of the patient is the image of the dentist treating him.
What are the key moments that have shaped you as a specialist?
I’m from a family of doctors, where my dad was a dentist and my mother – a family doctor. I’ve been passionate about medicine since my childhood, and at the age of 14, I already knew I wanted to become a dentist. More than that, I even helped Dad on some of the works I could do. I then followed my dream by graduating in 2001 my university studies in dentistry. Then, the internship followed and, of course, a lot of work. If you want to be really good at something you have to do it with passion and self-giving.
What does it mean for you to be a dentist?
It’s what I like to do. Practicing dentistry in the clinic, it combines the job and the hobby. I love to bring the smile on people’s faces.
What was your route?
Since 2003 I have been working at the dental clinic “Caracaş-Dental”. That’s where I formed as a specialist. I would like to thank the whole team for that beautiful time in my life. I also attended several courses in the country and abroad (USA, Germany, Austria, Russia, Ukraine etc.). Innovations that occur every year require continuous training.
How did the idea to open a private dental centre arise?
The idea to start a family business was born with the support of my wife, Olimpia Balta, who is also a doctor. The need for continuous development and growth has led to the idea of creating a dental centre. From the start,it was designed to meet all the modern exigencies, which would allow the delivery of top quality dental services.
How many medical workers do you have?
We are a team of 14 people. In difficult situations, teamwork is indispensable, and a complex approach is needed. Also, the support that Olimpia offers me daily as a director and administrator of the clinic is unparalleled. We are always together and I am extremely grateful for her contribution to the welfare and prosperity of the Imperial Dent Clinic. The dental clinic became a place where anyone can find a good and dedicated dentist.
What are the current trends in dental aesthetics that you use? What do patients require most often?
Current trends, in general, are quality oriented. The vast majority of people want something well done, good looking, that will last for a long time. These things are real. Modern dental services in some private clinics in our country are identical to those in Europe and the United States. If we refer to dental aesthetics, more and more people are choosing the dental bleaching and porcelain facets, so that the smile is not only healthy but also beautiful.
What are the main rules for maintaining healthy teeth?
The first rule is keeping rigorous hygiene, consisting of daily dental brushing, dental floss and regular medical check-up. In some cases, I recommend the irrigator. Nutrition should be rational without an excess of carbohydrates. A detartring and professional brushing every six months in the office is necessary for good dental health and early detection of problems that may worsen later.
Do the toothpaste and the toothbrush that we use matter? What advice do you give to our readers in this regard?
There is an enormous variety of products on the market. I usually recommend medium or soft hard toothbrushes. Toothpaste should be chosen with your dentist, depending on the condition of your mouth. It is important for the teeth to get clean, the duration of an effective brushing being 2-3 minutes.
